a lot of suggestions on limiting the fighting can be found on this site. the flock needs a lot of room to get away, over crowding is the worst problem. The second thing that I have read is to put a temporary fence up so they can see each other for a while then take the fence down at night.

Welcome to BYC, enjoy your chickens! I have nine different breeds and will be mixing the two flocks in eight more weeks. At that time I will take all but one the cockerels away from the pullets

Hello and welcome from east central Indiana. I have not had Silkies but have integrated different aged groups of different breeds. I have a large coop, approx. 16'X50'. I set an extra large dog cage in it. The 13 older ones were out in the coop and were 12wks. old. 4 youngest ones were in the crate. 2 were 8wks and 2 were 6wks. Their crate had it's own food/water. Left them in the crate until they were almost as big as the older ones. I had a couple of my kids stay in the coop with me and we'd let them out for short periods at first to see how everyone did. Did that for a couple days then started letting them be loose in the coop during the daytime only. Did that for a couple days then released them entirely with the others. Was surprised @ the easy transition. Not that there wasn't a little pecking going on. To be expected. Lots of space to run away. Have large branches in the coop to run behind also. Hope this helps. When I get more (wanting 5 EE pullets) I will do it the same way.
