Bearded Silkie Chicks

Quote:
How much is the "dark chick" above? And since (s)he would need a buddy, what about the white chick or the "pale ppatridge/porcelain" (not clear which is the correct color based on description with the picture.)

Can you post a pic of a "White Cuckoo" this is a completely new term, that I have never heard or seen before?
Are any of your breeder birds Cuckoo?

This is a white cuckoo rooster. Cuckoo chickens generally have odd colored beaks and combs. He has been producing what appears to be cuckoo chicks which are pictured in this thread. Their wing feathers appear to be cuckoo.

Sorry, there was a lot going on when I posted the pic. A white cuckoo is a cuckoo that possesses a recessive gene that blocks color. So he possesses the characteristics of a cuckoo (odd colored comb & waddles, light beak & skin). I have not figured out which hen he is breeding with that is producing the cuckoo chicks as this is my first hatch with this group. This rooster is a rarity but I have confirmed him with some cuckoo geneticists. He is also throwing some whites which I believe will turn out just like him. I may hold onto a few of these chicks so that I can see how they develop. One of the chicks that has a light beak is absolutely stunning. Very fluffy face but unlike it's father, it has the darker skin.

can you show us pics of older babies or offspring by the white cuckoo?

This is the first time I am breeding him with these girls. My girls are young. I am planning on hanging onto a couple of the offspring so that I can see what they look like. He is not the only roo in the pen. There is a porcelain (he is the pic of the week) and a beautiful blue roo.
