bearded silky bantams: pics wanted!

I like my silkies when they can't see since they are calm and pet like... then they molt and can see and become basket cases until they get used to all of the new world. To trim feathers I just use siscors and make sure I am only snipping adult feathers and NOT pin feathers as those bleed.

I use rounded end scissors same as childrens safety scissors but with better blades.
My 8 y/o son holds them in his lap and pats them to make them calm, then I snip around the top of eye section.
Mikey ends up with fluff all over him so he has an apron just for this job. They love their haircut but it does make them harder to pick up as they now see you coming.!!

SilkieChicken: Thanks for the tip on the pin feathers. I might have avoided clipping one simply because they're more stiff but I didn't know they would bleed. So thanks.

BantyMum: Of course! Makes more sense to use the blunt ended scissors. Less fuss and squawking than the shaver, I imagine.

I have this horrible vision of your poor Silkie running into the clothesline pole. Is it horrible that I chuckled?

Hey kybukabu : no I wont tell her that you had a chuckle!!!
she doesnt feel the bumps as she has a little fluffy "crash helmet" on her head, but it puts her direction out of whack!
Shes having a haircut shortly!

My goodness! They're so adorable. I fear this may be a lifetime addiction... I love the blue - so pretty! But they're all adorable. The Buff on the back right already has the chronic Silkie expression, very serious about life. Congratulations!
