I bought some button quail today. The guy stated that they were molting but I think it’s more neglect. Never seen a bird look like this unless they are sick and pulling feathers out. I think that he had them super overcrowded and over breeding. I was about to not take them but decided to take them to get them to a set up that will make them healthy. Gave them 30 percent protein fee, sprayed scalped heads with anti bacteria and plenty of space. If you are buying in Illinois you might want to think twice about buying from schertz exotic birds In low point Illinois. Oh and I think one has a broken foot since it’s favoring that one. Hopefully over the next few weeks they will heal.

I've never seen my buttons look like that even when moulting. I'd check them out for mites too.
 
more lively feathers growing in a bit and the scalps have scabbed over and mostly healed
