Beautiful day turned really really CRAPPY! Charlotte is dead!

He'll probably be upset me for a little while for not telling him, but I think it's best. It's hard though when he sends letters for me to read to the coffee group and he says hi to people who aren't there anymore or asks about them. I've let everyone know that I'm not telling him so they understand about him not knowing and asking questions.

So sorry about all your losses; this is probably a dumb ?, and this thread will die a horrible death as a result, but does it seem that predators have been worse this year than usual, or in the past? The only reason I ask is because we are building up in areas that use to be timber and more game were there for their food supply. I was just thinking that if you are in areas that are building up, even slowly would have a major impact on their otherwise plentiful food supply. OR, do they just eat fenced stuff because it such easy pickings?

We noticed more hawks this year in West Michigan. We lost one to a Coopers hawk that went right into the coop. Now we keep the hens in covered runs, but we still see that hawk and others.
