...I went and got 7 more.
My first chickens, two Buff Orpingtons and three Production Blues, on the left. Today’s babies, Cornish Rocks, on the right.
This is my first time raising chickens. I am super attached to the first five. They’re mostly tame now, and eat from my hand and let me pet them. They’re my layers (except I suspect two of being roosters). The new birds will be for meat. I’m very soft hearted so this will be hard for me.

I swear these things are like the Pringles slogan....once you pop you cant stop! I'm a new chick mom of three and I feel like I need more! I also suspect for some reason all three will be roos!
Yeah, I bought the straight run because people are literally lined up here as soon as the chicks arrive. I was willing to take the chance to get SOME pullets out of it.
One of my Buffs and one of my Blues each have a significantly larger comb than the others of their breed, and they’re more aggressive. They’re only two weeks old so I’m going to give it a little more time to be sure, but I’m pretty convinced.
