Bed time behavior or am I missing something?

My chicks are about 6 weeks old. They are both bantam and standard size. They are housed in a 4x4 square by 8' long portable crate we maded. I create artificial sun and moon lite. I have them in my guest room with only one window it tends to stay dark. I have experience the whistle-panick chirp when I turn off the lite in the room and plunge them into unexpected darkness. Now I leave the hall light on leave door to room open then I turn off the room light. Once they realize the hall light is still on and they can see some light they calm down. Then I turn off the hall light with only a night light left on. After a few minutes I turn off the night light and close their door. This artificial sun down seems to be ok for them. They tend to gather in a pile in the path of the light as close to the light source as they can.

I take one chick to bed with me. She roosts on a flash light that has an inside out sock taped over it. So she does not slip off it. I put a pillow case under the lite incase she has an accident...Hahaha. She sleeps with me during nap time and bed time. My cats are missing mommy time.

5 cats, 2 dogs, 1 mini paint horse,1 mini goat,8 mini chickens (bantams) 4 standards chicks:)

If you are talking about human kids, then I have four of them and none of them will roost on my arm but the youngest will fall asleep on my lap and sit on my lap during the day. As for fighting over the roost (me) only the youngest will do that and when I insist on letting one of her siblings stay seated by my side and not let her push them away she will stick her lower lip out and pout. At which point I try not to laugh, can't stop and she will pout harder, cross her arms and say, "It's not funny!"
