I was wondering if i could use sand for the deep litter method. like in the morning just scoop off the top part or let it dry during the day ad before i put the ducks up sift the dry stuff. we are building them a new coop and my dad wants it to be wired floor, but thats harder to clean up if you dont have a tray and of course i dont so i dont want them to be uncomfortable and so i was thinking sand is pretty cheap and it sounds easy, so would it work?

Someone posted about using sand in a coop a couple of weeks ago. She/he used a kitty litter scoop to sift out the solids.

I use alternating layers of sand, leaves and whatever shavings are coming off the planer (NOT walnut though). I mostly use sand under the roosts, since it is easier to clean up. The leaves and stuff just help keep my girls interested and my compost pile happy.
