Hi all,
I have two coops that after years of poop scooping, are ready to have the sand refilled/replaced. However, I don't want to just buy a few buckets of any old sand. Because I inherited the coops when I bought our house, I'm not sure what kind was put in, but I do know that one is really dusty when sifting and the other is not. Although I wear a mask when cleaning the coop (because who wants to be breathing in poop dust!), I would like to mitigate the amount of poop dust created during the process.
I'm also curious about possibly mixing in some dried out coffee grounds (thank you Starbucks "grounds for gardens") to further mitigate the dust and the smell, but am unsure of possible unintended consequences. All input appreciated.
