I’ve been using sand in my coop but after using it for a few months I’m thinking about trying the deep litter method. What materials work well for this method and what are your thoughts. I think it may be too damp for sand here. Thanks and any advice is appreciated.

Can you describe your coop? Is it directly on a dirt floor? Any drainage issues? How large is it and how many sq ft of ventilation do you have? What's your climate like?

Generally most coops don't favor deep litter (moist composting system) but rather deep bedding (dry system).

Most people who are happy with sand long-term live in dry climates.
