Bedding Mulch Grass

I have pine shaving (it's horse barn shavings) in the coop. It's great.

In the run I have grass.

I am buying red mulch for my garden that will be around the run (yes I know the chickens will destroy it) Is red mulch okay for them to mess in? Also, is it bad for ants?

Im sure you will be fine, chickens eat all those bugs anyway
