This chick had a tough start as a scrambled egg I received in the mail. The air cell was bubbles. Out of six eggs, this was the only one that made it to hatch. Our other shipped eggs of two different breeds did fine.
Beeker pipped upside down, we waited 12 hours, then my daughter and I did an emergency "C-section". We chipped away the egg like a normal zip, then peeled away the outer membrane and popped off the top which was really the bottom, then carefully opened the inner membrane.
Beeker was very weak and rested for half a day inside its shell. We kept it damp and worked it out of the inner membrane and fully hatched it by the next day. We think the 12 hours spent with only a cramped pip caused its beak to bend sideways a little! That's why my daughter named it Beeker.
Now we await the great mystery of whether Beeker is a boy or a girl!
My daughter is in love with this little Tolbunt Polish and it is thriving.
