I started here 11 years ago and for a few years, was pretty regular. I post on occasion on FB but I haven't been here specifically, in probably 4-5 years. I haven't added to my flock in about 5-6 years and as I write this, I'm adjusting the humidity on my incubator to set a batch of 24 mixed breed eggs. With t

he current state of world affairs, I will be raising roosters for freezer camp because the food supply right now seems unstable at best. I have one hen left from my original batch in 2009, an EE named Muffin. The other 4, 3 hens and a roo, were from my last addition and their egg laying has slowed considerably. The roo, Walker is a handsome boy, and he's very respectful of me. Time to add more.
 
Welcome to Backyard Chickens - do you intend to get some younger layers?

Haven't gotten out to the grocery store in awhile, I have eaten so many eggs I think I am going to turn into a hen at any moment.

Do you have a grow out pen for the boys when they start getting obnoxious and can't stay in the flock any longer?
