Been awhile, i need help

I hope Pearl is OK and I'm glad you're considering a vet if she gets worse. Perhaps she's just freaked out a little about become a "woman" today. If she's eating a lot, that's a good sign.

I've seen people here on BYC say to offer them calcium (such as oyster shell) on the side so that she lays normal eggs with normal shells.

Her first egg was a nice one. Very solid. Looked like a perfect duck egg to me. But yeah shes eating and everything, just seems sad. Tho i havent been home most of the day. That probably has alot to do with it being as she cries for me all the time.

wow shes starting to act normal again........this was only the second day iv been away from her since i hatched her. Think she was depressed from me being gone. tho ima still keep my eye on her. but i checked her vent and all is great, no swelling, no ruffed feathers, no signs of anything. what if she only lays that one egg? being as that was her first egg laying

Some ducks get a little bit withdrawn when they start to lay their first eggs or shortly before they start. They are a little bit overwhelmed by the hormonal change. It should stop after laying a couple of eggs. It's normal. They also skip a day quite frequently in the beginning.
