So it’s been awhile, we’ve been busy this summer!

Here’s a little update on my sweet PipSqueak. She’s been laying eggs everyday since we’ve added the oysters shells. Thanks for the tip!! We still don’t have a friend for her but she gets daily visits from us, and our cats love hanging out in the pen with her.

We’ve added a few leafy greens for treats, watermelon seems to be her favorite though. The kids love this part because she runs to them, and the giggles are just priceless.

Our project at the moment is creating a new “pond” for Pip. I saw one with a drainage and thought genius!

Let’s see, oh we’ve been talking chickens, but I’m not sure how a duck and chickens would mix?

Pip is beautiful. Congrats on all those eggs!! I’d def get her a buddy along with those chickens. Ducks really need other ducks to be happy. A female would be ideal a drake will over mate one female an make her life miserable.

Thank you!

I’ve been on the hunt for a hen closer to her age, but there is only ducklings around. That’s why I was wondering about chickens for now. Just to have a 24/7 buddy in there.

You never know how she’ll react so have the pen separated with fencing to start so they all can meet with out anyone getting hurt. You’ll have to do the same with the coop until they have all gotten to know one another.

Hey! Thanks so much for the advice. So I’ve finally been able to find a duck that’s about 3-4 months old, and she’s a Scottish black I believe. I was wondering would I still need to take this same approach introducing her to my Pip? & how long should I keep them apart to get use to one another?

Try the together right off toss some goodies out so they are more interested in eating than getting in each other’s face. If that doesn’t work keep them close but separated and try again in a few days. Hope they just become best friends right off. Keep us updated!
