Sorry you got let go so sneakily, that was wrong on their behalf. They should have stuck to their word on taking you back.
But, what if they felt like you did....that you were part of the family and then saw that you were willing to dump them for the first better job that came along? Then after thinking it over, you decided they were good enough for a bit longer til something else came along. If I cared about someone and wanted them as a friend or coworker/employee, my feelings would be very hurt if I got thrown away for something better. I doubt I would be able to trust them or rely on them to be there for me. Although I would want the best for them, I would probably cut all ties before getting hurt again. There's always two sides....
