looks like y'all did a wonderful job. i'm all in for 'form and function'. your chickens will teach you anything else you need to learn as time goes by. they're very demanding task masters.

And while my poodle couldn't have cared two bits, he's suddenly very interested in the girls? He's 3 and been good around all kinds if critters, I'm really bummed that he's behaving like a dog, lol. But I won't hold it against him!

While I still don't trust my dogs around my birds, my experience has been that every year when I get chicks they go into that excitable, stalking predator mode. As soon as they become the sedate egg laying ladies they were meant to be my dogs start ignoring them. Must be the way chicks dart around a lot, and maybe the peeping.

How exciting that beautiful coop being gifted with eggs already.

My husband wasn't thrilled when I told him I wanted chickens. Actually, I'm sure his response was on the lines of "no way".
My response was, " um hun, that wasn't a question." (you would think he'd know me better after 30 years

) Anywho -
After I brought our chicks home. He did his best to ignore them. Kept insisting they would smell. He was less than thrilled
about building a chicken coop. But that's all I wanted for my birthday, so... He built "me" an amazing A frame tractor set up
for our back yard. By the time he was done with it, I couldn't even move it because he built it to be predator proof. After I
put some stain on the tractor and our girls started giving "him" eggs, he is thrilled with "his" chickens now. He admitted that
he thought it was a crazy idea until they started giving eggs.

He came home from work today telling me that his two colleagues want photos of the chicken tractor he built because
now they are thinking of getting chickens, after hearing his stories.

I just love my guy. These chickens have brought so much silliness into our lives and we really are enjoying it.

Wishing you all the best.
