I've been reading for a while, and getting answers to my questions that other people have already asked. I once raised a barred rock hen as a pet. Right now I have a rooster and a hen that are supposedly ameraucanas, but I'm not really sure about that. They are almost 6 months old. I thought I started a thread in the What Gender or Breed is This? section but it was either eaten or takes a while to show up. (to be clear, I'm not asking here - just stating a fact)
I can hold my roo and pet him, but we had a bit of a rough patch when he hit puberty. If I put him down too far away from the coop, he hangs around me until I walk back towards it. The hen never bonded with me and is hard to catch and hold. With her, I mainly just try to herd her back into the coop when it's time so I don't stress her out.
