My mealworm "farm" for my chickens has been wildly successful, so now I have some extra worms to offer for sale to anyone who needs some. The mealworms are mostly medium to large in size. I will include 20% overcount to compensate for potential losses that might occur in shipping.

1000 (1200 including 20% overcount) mealworms -- $10 (shipping only $4.80 anywhere in U.S.)
2000 (2400 including 20% overcount) mealworms -- $15
3000 (3600 including 20% overcount) mealworms -- $20

*Beetles (freshly morphed, ready to lay) -- 100 (120 including 20% overcount) -- $9 (shipping only $4.80 anywhere in U.S.)

Starter Kit -- $25 (Includes: 1000 (1200 including 20% overcount) mealworms, 50 (60 including overcount) new beetles (ready to start laying eggs! smile), two 6 quart plastic containers (with precut and screened vent holes in the lids), enough wheat bran for each (about a gallon Zip-lock full), and an information sheet.

Light Weight Starter Set -- $15 Save on shipping/use your own container: Includes the bugs (1000 mealworms (1200 including 20% overcount) and 50 (60 including overcount) new beetles) from the full Starter Kit and info sheet, but without the 6 qt. containers and bran, so shipping is less expensive for you. Also, I include a piece of metal screen to cover the vent hole you make in your container, in case you don't have any lying around.

*Beetle Starter Set -- $17 Same as regular starter set, just without the mealworms.

*Beetle Jumbo Starter Set -- $25 This is a good option if you want to get started raising mealworms and can live without worms for immediate feeding. Double the normal starter set beetles, up from 50 to 100 (120 actually, including overcount), an extra screened bin (now 3 total), and extra bran for the extra bin (total 2.5 lbs.). I've found that this setup, with proper care and feeding, will yield around 9000-12,000 mealworms in 2-3 months.

*Beetle Jumbo Light Starter Set -- $12 Good for those wanting to start mealworm colony using their own containers and bran. This includes 100 (120 including overcount) freshly morphed, ready to lay beetles, a section of metal screen to cover vent hole in the container you provide, and an info sheet. You provide your own container(s) and food (e.g. bran). Shipping for this is only $4.80 anywhere in the U.S. From my experience, with proper care and feeding these beetles will yield 9000-12,000 mealworms in 2-3 months.

Update 8/24/09:
Due to higher than expected postage rates (I don't know why I imagined all my packages would only cost $4.95 to ship
roll.png
. The starter kit I mailed today cost $15 to ship!

), I have lowered the prices of all my offered mealworms and starter kit by $5, and will be charging the buyer for actual shipping charges. (The above prices reflect new pricing.)

Update 8/26/09:
Thanks for all the orders!

Due to the strong response, I will be out of mealworms once the already received orders have been filled. I can continue to offer the starter set with beetles, but without the mealworms, for discounted price of $17 plus postage.

Update 8/28/09:
Mealworms are back in stock!

With some more mealworms reaching maturity, I now have about 10,000 more mealworms ready to ship. So all of the above items are now available. It's supposed to be cooler next week, so I can send some mealworms, beetles, and/or starter sets out Monday. Let me know as soon as possible if you'd like some.

Update 9/21/09:
Mealworms currently sold out, but have MANY small ones growing fast. Still have pupae reserves, from which I collect newly formed beetles, and am still getting new beetles. Beetle Starter Set and Beetle "Jumbo" Starter Set available. See above descriptions.

Where are you located? It is so hot right now, depending on where you are they may not make it to me alive in this heat.

Given shipping costs, I don't know if it would be worth it for you or me for that small a number of mealworms. I appreciate your interest in my mealworms, but you may find them cheaper (but not better

) locally.

Let me know if you cannot find mealworms locally, and maybe we can think of a way to get you a few mealworms inexpensively.

I'm in California. I don't think heat would be a problem on this end, as I'd be shipping inside the post office in the evening. Like you say, the temperature at the receiving end could be an issue. Let me know where you are if you're interested, and we can coordinate it with the weather. I'll include 20% overcount to allow for possible losses.
