just a picture of our new mill worm set up thanks to sillybirds. The chickens absolutely love them and they love us for bringing them out there. thanks again, Randy and Betsy
That was fast! 24 hrs and these guys are insane thriving! A lot of them have already doubled in size and eaten soooo many carrots!! It's crazy! I'm still scared to death of them but I'm also proud that they've survived this long with me! It's a love/hate relationship.

Congratulations! You'll get lots more. It is cool to see the progression through the different stages of the mealworm (darkling beetle) lifecycle. When you get a lot of active worms in a bin, doesn't it almost seem like they're going to jump up and grab the carrots from you hands.
Question - the 3 aliens I got are small - and there are much larger mealworms in the container - does that mean these are premature aliens? I would think that they need to get to a certain "age/size" before they became aliens? Now I'm concerned that maybe I did something wrong to prematurely trigger these guys to become aliens before they should have...or do they just become aliens whenever and it's normal to have different sized aliens?
The shelving brackets work great. Got them at an auction in a group of junk ha ha ha. got to get 2 more sweater boxes today! gonna do some sifting.......... and cleaning, sorting etc. Randy
