The following are some of my hatch of BBS sizzles. The results were... well... wild... I'm having some photobucket trouble so they're hard to see and label. I'll try again for my photorefusers. They're about 12 weeks now. Both Whiskey and Reposado are SOOO feathered seeing them at all is half impossible. they have DISTINT poofs. Sexing help on anything you see would be helpful. Aris is black and that's hard to get a shot of, small still flatish comb. Gino's is what you see, Vino's is reddish and a bump. Whiskeys is a walnut comb. I'll get his pic yet he's gorgeous. Reposado's is still kind of flat, and Anejos is in between and I'd really like at least one of them to be a pullet. really... sigh...
Sheridan is the blue red smooth sizzle with the SC...

hey, I got 4 sizzles from Sara

Anyway,

Sheridan looks like a Roo. Comb and wattles scream it. I have one with comb and wattles just like that, and people said it was a roo.

Gin looks like a roo. The tail seems like there is long tail feathers developing.

Vino looks like a Pullet. Tail feathes are round.

The others Im not sure. Im not positive about my guesses but hope that helps. Maybe

All replies are HELPFUL. Even I dunno. At least then I am not alone

This is a fourth generation. And a frizzle cochin/silkie were the beginnings and the frizzle cochin and several of the first generation look like the one in the Picture - kewl huh?

I'll try to get Whiskey and Reposado indoors and take their pics. That'll piss em off.

I'm closetly hoping Aris and Vino are girls. You can't even see Whiskey or Reposado's faces for all the poof, I think Sara added Polish to the mix for better topknots. They're also bearded.

But Anejo, the Frilkie did NOT get the topknot message, talk about pathetic.

Gin is a cockerel.

Sheridan is definately a cockerel, his coloration and comb and wattles indicate male.

Aris is a pullet.

Vino looks like a pullet, but hard to tell whether or not those are streamers on it's head. If they are, it's a cockerel.

Can't really see Whisky good enough for an id.

Reposado is a pullet.

Anejo looks like a pullet, but hard to tell from that pic.

Okay we have helped define ONE for sure, I picked up Vino - he's getting streamers.

Sheridan is also sporting streamers and those screaming wattles.

Gin is sooo ugly I'm not sure I care but the mottling and lacing that is now coming in is still intriguing in an all ugly sort of way.

So tomorrow close ups of Aris my black, Anejo the homely Frilkie, Whiskey the Splash and Reposado my blue.

Thanks sooo much.

Hey Cher;

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, works been insane!

The kids are 5th generation this year. As we are breeding to the Silkie standard with only the feather change, those reds are not "legal" colors & I'm doing my best to eliminate them from my lines.

Probably Sherriden (definitely a roo) & Gin (probably a pullet) are from the polish/silkie cross. Its the coloring. It's shown up on a number of birds that are from that pairing. I even got partridge out of that breeding, enough for Suze to start a blue partridge line. Since I've pretty much eliminated red from my original lines, that's a fair guess.

Aris & Anjo look like pullets & Reposada is probably also & the best one of the bunch you have decent pics of. I would try breeding your frilkie back to a smooth roo. You have a 25% chance of getting "proper" Sizzles from her which at this stage is pretty good!. Hope everyone has the required 5 toes!

Vino is looking like a roo and is structurally pretty nice. I'd hang on to him to see if his color clears up so you have a smooth roo for the three curly girls you have. I'm getting more dark splash birds this year. Blue on blue as opposed to blue on white. It's really pretty! If Vino doesn't work out, let me know as I'm hanging on to all my decent roos until fall in case anyone needs one to continue their breeding programs.

Please remember even at 5th generation, we are still working to stabilize this breed. Each generation my percentage of decent Sizzles goes up but I'm still only getting about 25% birds I consider good enough to breed next year. That's from over 200+ chicks. This year my criteria is even stricter as I am not keeping anything with the wrong # of toes or the wrong comb for next years breeding.

Great to see the pics!
