Beginner Chicken Mom - Southaven, MS

Hello. I just came across this forum, and thought I would introduce myself since I am a very new chicken mom. I live in Southaven Mississippi with my two daughters ages 16 and 12. My parents gave my girls some baby chicks for Easter this past Spring that they purchased from Tractor Supply. Somehow, we have managed to keep them alive, and now the female bantam has started laying eggs. My girls and I are so excited. They are begging me to get more baby chicks now to raise because they have had so much fun with these babies, and I have to admit that it's been pretty satisfying knowing that we have raised them from a few days old to now, and that they are doing well considering I know nothing about raising chickens. I'm so glad that I found this site because it has a wealth of information, and has helped me tremendously! Are there any more Desoto County chicken parents around here?

Greetings and welcome (back) to BYC from NE TX! So glad you re-joined us. I see you were here for a bit back in April, then disappeared... As you already know, there's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me will never remember from this post and title, & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down.
