Beginning our Journey

My wife and I are in a village that just changed the village ordinances to allow for backyard chickens. We are the first family to apply for the process and we need a community to get us through this journey. We are the test family for the village so this has to go well or they may change their minds. We need a set of plans for our coop and I know what I want to do but I don't know how to design a drawing. Anyone know where I can get help?
Awesome have fun and look around

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome. This book has lots of nice plans that can be easily adapted to a chicken coop.

General recommendation is a minimum of 4 s.f. in coop and 10 s.f. in run per bird. I recommend that you make your coop a walk in style, with a minimum size of 4 x 8, no matter how few birds you have. Check out deep litter for coop and run to help make maintenance easy, and cut down on odor.
