Beginning to think Sunshine, my rescue EE, is a roo :(

Quote:
Yeah, he's got quite a few actually, look close at the first 3 pics, the black hackle, they are too pointy to be hens feathering, and look at the tail, in the angled pics, you can see the saddle hanging down against the tail. Still very young, but they are coming in...

Ah well... now I just have to find some EE girls to keep the boys company...

It's like looking for a needle in a haystack around here

My goodness!

Looks like it's 50/50 on opinions so far...

I will have to wait a bit and take better photos once I get my real camera back, by that time Sunshine should have recuperated from the respiratory infection (it's already getting better), have a better skin and feather tone now that the worms and lice are gone, right now she/he is a MESS so it's really hard to tell.

Front end feels like pullet to me, back end feels like roo.

I do think this EE is a lot younger than 20 weeks of age - a couple weeks ago you asked for age guesstimates and people guessed it to be about 5-8 weeks old at that time (De. 9). That would make Sunshine 7 1/2 - 10 1/2 weeks old now. He/she does look to be about 10 weeks old to me.

This is one of my 10 week old EEs - still slight in size and weight - small comb - You can judge its size by my arm & hand

Here is one of my EE pullets at 19 weeks of age - dark pink comb, wide, plump body (hen shape)

I don't see any obvious roo signs yet - if Sunshine is indeed only 10 weeks old, I think it could go either way.
