My boy, Gilbert, a Black Spanish breed, has been acting strange since the weather cooled off. Some is good and entertaining, but one particular behavior has me wondering. He has suddenly changed where he roosts. He’s been roosting on the back porch bannister since we got him. Now, he has moved to the front porch bannister and has gone to roost already today around lunchtime. Is this normal??

Is he napping or roosting for the night?
Where is the coop located according to the porches? Could he be moving closer to the coop to watch for a predator that is around.
My chickens seem to know a predator is around before I see any signs of one.
