the pictures I have attached is my bcm before laying and a little while after starting,you can really se a difference in the color, I have a topped chicken as well and it’s really the red color you should pay attention to.Their combs are developing and getting pinkish red. I need an up to date pic. Hard to tell on the feed. I spoil the heck out of them and food is always available.
it’s perfect that you always have food available, when they are starting to get ready to lay they use more energy so I think they prob love to be spoiled, i mean who wouldn’t

I also looked back at older photos of mine to kinda see if I could see a growth in their comb
