Being given a "rare" flock

That's the thing he won't tell me.. said he doesn't know. The photos to me don't look anything rare. The only one I'm even slightly interested in would be the polish hen.
I didn’t see any thing out of the ordinary either. You don’t acquire rare breeds & then not know what they are! 🙄 Good luck if you decide to take any of them. I second the advice to quarantine. ❤️

I have a friend wanting to rooster. I really want the polish hen (she looks as if the roosters wanted nothing to do with her lol).

If I do decide to take them they'll be quarantined and the hens will be away from any roosters till their feathers grow back in and they'll just end up as my egg layers.

And yea I have almost 75ish chickens of all ages and I have a fairly general idea what they are or at least possibly mixed with.

Thanks though everyone for the advice! :)

I'm guessing the seller ordered a "rare breed assortment" from a hatchery, or else picked the chicks from a "rare breed" bin in a store.

That would explain why they think they have rare breeds but do not know which breeds.
Probably true. I once saw a polish bin and bought 9. I didn't even think about it when I bought them and realized when I got home....they didn't have the little crest... ended up with some basic egg layers.

It's all good though. I have till Friday so I'll think it over and decide then if I want some extra egg layers.

even though there in bad condition doesn't mean there not worth saving
Also very true. Look at this one girl I saved from someone who had to downsize. I took 1 rooster and 4 hens from her and they lay the biggest eggs. She looks absolutely horrible.l, but she's been laying almost daily and I don't have her in with any roosters at the moment.so she has time to heal up. That photo was when I first got her. The other 3 was rough too but no where near as bad as her. I didn't have to pay anything for her.

You did a good deed saving her.
