Belgian Cuckoo Malines - Next Generation

Surely hasnt taken you long Shelley to regain interest from your newer thread updates and onlookers. Eyes and ears become focused when the "MALINES/MECHELS" breed is mentioned! And well they should be. Unfortunate as yet, but these birds will slowly migrate into the Americas and some of us will start the breedline promotional process here as well. As I mentioned when you closed out your other thread, us Yanks all tip our hats to you Canadians for your professional guidelines and efforts to salvage a somewhat dying and rare breed. I am sure the people on BYC that share your forum thread will be impressed with this bird and all the qualities it has to offer. Thanks for sharing Shellz! :thumbsup

Couldn't have said it better!

Thanks you guys! :) I appreciate all your kind comments.
My hope is that someday, folks in the U.S. can get these birds as well & share right here on this thread too. So without further ado, here are some 2 1/2 week old chick pics. :) I can't believe the size of the first one. He's really big! There's a bit of yellow shine on their beaks, but I think that'll fade as they mature. They all have excellent leg feathering. :)

2nd hatch of 2014. Yeah, my new genesis is defective. If anyone has any ideas how to fix it (broken seal I was told) I would love to hear it. :) New Brinsea unit will be here next week. Purchased from a Canadian company who honors their warranties. ;)

11 healthy chicks so far & counting...:)

In case anyone from a high heat region wishes to obtain these birds, (I believe Greenfire Farms is currently offering them for sale) I stumbled upon this blog with some helpful hints.

...flowered curtains were a little too city-fied for my chickens, but it made me laugh. :D

I did find the "skip the ACV" comment helpful but I caution everyone to do research before taking anyone's word on a blog.

Thanks!

They look great! Green Fire has them but they are so expensive. I'm trying to convince my hubby to get some to breed but he's balking at the outlay.
Love the pictures!
