Belgian Cuckoo Malines - Next Generation

Here's a couple of pics involving the 7 week olds. (10 week olds weren't cooperating) Just weighed a couple of the 10 week old roos. Biggest one is 4 lbs 10 oz & another is 4 lbs 4 oz. :)

One week old now & no glue required, I swear! They sure know how to move in the brooder though!

Theres a good colouring difference between the two lines... excited to see them grown to compare and interesting to see what the mutts will end up looking like!

I would agree looks like the old line has less white? or perhaps i am dreaming.. lol

Thanks Chad. :)
Not at all GQ. I see a marked difference between the 2 in the roos. There is more white in the new line, also the old line appears to have slightly darker gray downy fuzz. ;) I can't wait to see how they grow out too. :D

Here are some recent pics of the older crew & their first progeny. I have 2 different ages of chicks living together - 7 & 10 week olds in the grow-out coop & they've started foraging/free ranging with the nice weather. :)

I have noticed the roosters & hens pay no mind to the little ones, other than a single peck to respect their elders. ;) I've had a RIR rooster in the past that picked up a young chick & tossed it. Not a lot of drama with Malines. Love that! :D

That is good to know! they all look so happy, bet their enjoying that nice weather! i see hen running omg i love that run lol

I just saw a hen running & it was the funniest thing I've ever seen! It was like skipping & running at same time. This must be what another owner has coined a 'bunny hop' style of locomotion. First time I've ever seen it & wish I had video of it!

Chicks are 2 weeks old now, so here are the ones that cooperated. ;)
