I have a problem, recently my guiean fowl have been dropping like flies. I had 10 at the begging of the week and now only have 5. I Have 3 Great pyraness ( 2 males, 1 female) who are on guard at all times, but haven't barked at anything or too after anything suddenly. My female takes care of Hawks and my boys take care of coyotes and mountain lions, as well as foxes. What could it be??
Thanks

Are you sure they are being eaten? I've known guinea hens to just disappear, sometimes returning from nests. Occasionally they just start roosting elsewhere.

My thoughts on predators would be something large enough to carry the guinea off but also quiet enough to not alert the dogs. A fox would be a likely suspect. They are smart and good at outsmarting other animals (humans included). If they are free range, an owl would be another suspect. Again, they are suited to hunting in complete silence.

If you keep them penned, I would consider keepin them locked up for a couple weeks to avoid losing more.

Thank you so much they were roosting on nests which I hadn't even thought of. This morning o was walking out to feed horses and 35 guineakets walk right in front of me with mom and dad. Took about 45 minuets to catch them all. But now we are up to 7 and found 2 piles of feathers. So a fox has gotten them and I'm positive of that. They are little devils.

Thanks for telling me about the nests.@Chickerdoodle13
