Belly-Button Piercings

You have to go to the doctor, if you don't and it is infected it could spread and seriously hurt you. There are MANY types of infections I will guarentee you that it is infected, and pus is a sign of infection. NOT ALL INFECTIONS ARE RED AND SWOLLEN, if you do not go to the doctor you will regret it and it will NOT go away on its own.

Ok, scary story time.

DH's ex had her belly button pierced .. it went WAY WRONG and months later she had to have SURGERY to repair the big gaping hole in her tummy ... she now doesn't even HAVE a belly button ..

LOL

I had mine done, though, and no problems at all .. took it out after gaining 30 lbs and deciding nobody would ever see my belly agian!!

Ok,, no more beating around the bush and dancing around the plain truth. You've got an infection, take it out, go to the doctor and next time have more sense. From what I've read on your postings you have a brain, use it.

The instructions I got when mine was done were to:
Rinse with warm salt water in a glass 2 times a day
when in the shower, wash with the barbell in place by moving up and down, working antibacterial soap into the hole.
rinse and pat dry.
If your jeans rub it, lightly tape a gauze pad over it leaving 2 sides taped, and 2 sides open.
DON'T TOUCH IT unless you wash your hands
DON'T TAKE IT OUT, putting a stud in and out will irritate the hole.

If it's not painful, red, puffy, hot, oozing anything other than the clear, orangy fluid, you probably don't have an infection.

Keep it clean and don't mess with it. I've had mine for a LONG time now and never have anyproblems with it.

Don't think this has been mentioned but it's worth thinking about...... you may be having a reaction to the stud or the replacement screw ons. Seriously, I can't wear anything but titanium now because I will ooze the entire time any other metal is in the holes and I only have pierced ears. I still have issues with the nuts on my studs since the last pair of titanium studs I could find had plated nuts, I have to pull them out once a week, flush the holes out, push out the gunk, take a cleaning brush to the studs and nuts before putting them back in.
I'd still have it looked at by a doc to rule out infection but it sounds like a reaction to the metals.

It can take 6 months or more for a navel piercing to completely heal. Keep using the H2Ocean. When I had mine done, I would lay on the couch and pour SeaBreeze, the facial astringent, in my belly button and just let it soak for about 5 minutes.

Writerofwords is a smart lady. Her and I think a lot a like. The only difference between her and I is that I think it and she says it. LOL thank You Writerofwords.

If you are "really concerned", please follow the good advice that has been given here. Otherwise you are just wasting the time and concerns of others. You don't want to have a localized infection go systemic. It's not an impossibility. Please listen.

Dumbest thing in the world to do unless you know what you're doing.
I know enough people who've messed up their nerves permanently to do it myself.
Don't listen to him (though he could be a little correct) and find a professional to look at it.

I've had my lip pierced for 5 years now, my nose as well and I took out my other nose stud.
My ears have been pierced for 20 years and if anything even looks kooky, I take it out.
Period.!!!

Uh, I'm allergic to surgical steel. Did you know that nickle is actually allowed in surgical implant grade steel??? Well I didn't know until my ears that were FOUR YEARS OLD and had previously been fully healed, suddenly started itching, bleeding, etc. and they closed up on me when I took the jewelry out to sleep. You can develop allergies after time.

I wear titanium only in ALL of my other piercings, and don't have any problems with Ti.

Glass is heavy, and kinda freaky if you ask me, no way I'm putting glass in my tongue.....but Ti is lighter than steel and way more comfortable, plus I don't have to worry about shattering it all over my tongue. Esssh! *shudders at the thought*
