benefits of fresh milk

The farm next door to us sells raw milk..but when I went to get some they had a "warning" sign informing me that the the milk was unpasteurized and the dangers with i (which I don't remember)..I bought it but couldn't drink it.. I would have been fine had they not posted the warning!

That's the same as selling "for animal consumption only".

Milk is very good for you , and dairy fats aren't all bad fats. One is conjugated linoleic acid which has been shown to reduce body fat in adults. I just performed the first clinical trial with children. CLA was effective in reducing body fat gain in overweight children as they grew. However, please have your HDL cholesterol checked as CLA has been known to decrease HDL (the good) cholesterol.

Milk proteins are also very efficient at protein recovery after a workout. Lots of endurance athletes drink chocolate milk as a recovery drink.

It can contain bacteria like Listeriosi, pasturella, e coli, etc. Though it is extremely unlikely from a small, clean, pastured type farm. Much more likely on a factory farm where animals are kept in closer confinement and fed more artificial feeds.

at the thought of making butter and cheese! But I have to wait at least a year to get them pregnant...

My mom likes to scare me with 'warnings' about cows, pigs, turkeys, and anything that eats feed store products, generally. So I was assuming I'd have to pasteurize, but I was not thrilled at the idea. Does anyone on here have any horror stories about drinking unpasteurized milk from a family cow? Or is it, like ksacres said, unlikely on a small pasture?

Also, where do you all get the bottles from, and do they have screw tops or what? Is running them through the dishwasher enough between milking? If I have to boil water and sanitize bottles all the time,
