Hello! I know I haven't been posting a lot on byc. I'm here to reconnect with all you other poultry enthusiasts! If you're new here, welcome! 🤗 I have been doing so much behind the scenes! But I think it's about time I share some of my secrets. I'm testing different colors, sop silkies, and different Silkie genes 🧬 So I hope we will all enjoy this thread. We're family here!

I just purchased two partridge chicks from my all time favorite silkie breeder who is retiring! I'm going to pick up the chicks on Wednesday! Stay tuned for pictures!

Great! Hopefully I can help you along the way! And if not, well be learning together lol
Looking forward to seeing your partridges, I'm likely slowly working towards blue partridges here (I have no set plans currently 😂 ). I only have one suspected blue partridge (showgirl) right now, I say suspected as I'm unsure if he has some other colours too, like red?

I'm new to partridge. I finally got a buff and mottled breeding pen. I have one darker partridge hen, but she seems to not be that great of quality lol. Hopefully we will both figure em out!

I also want to follow and learn more. I have a question. It sounds stupid. But, if I bought a silkie and it was the result of a silkie and some other type of bird and then I took that chick, raised it and mated it with a silkie what would it be?

It wouldn't be a purebred silkie, but you could definitely still get a cute fluffy chicken. It will most likely still have silkie feathers

Here's some of the birds I've decided to keep for breeding this spring!

I am not sure that is what happened but I sold 4 chicks 8 months ago. When I purchased my chicks they were sold as silkies. Now the person who bought the 4 is accusing me of selling mixed chicks because the Roos have red combs. They are all brownish in color. Which their dad Roo was dark in shades of brown.
