I have chicks hatched Monday and Tuesday the first 1 pipped its shell Monday and made very little progress over 12 hrs, we gave it a little help and in the end it cracked the egg opened itself but now it's in the brooder it still seems quite weak compared two the ones that hatched Yesterday, is it normal for the chick to lay down and open and close its beck like its having trouble getting in air it's fine when it runs around. The other chick I'm concerned about cant seem to stay upright it ends up on its back and can't get up, it seems to have its head down and to one side so it can walk a few steps gets a lean then back onto its back. Any advice please

After reviewing the one I thought had a bent neck it's the chicks foot. In the photo above its the bottom foot toes are curled up and when placed on its foot it only stands on 1 leg the other stays curled up under

My experience with hatching is that if a chick needs help getting out of its shell it doesn't bode well for its health or ultimate survival. It's just not normal for them to not be able to do so. Further, they should be up and running in a matter of hours. I've heard that irregular or unstable incubator temps can cause anomalies. None the less, sounds like you have birds that will likely not thrive or should they do so be handicapped. Sorry.

3 even the one with the foot issue are running around but the 1st one to hatch seems to be getting weaker :-(

Sadly we are down to two but they are dong really well, they will be two weeks old on Tuesday and I picked up two day old buff Sussex chicks today at the market
