I am new to chickens since October.

We purchased a hen and a rooster at a poultry show. They aren't show quality birds, so it was buy a hen and get a free rooster for $3.

We have Rusty the Rooster and Midnight the Cochin Hen.

Last weekend we purchased 3 pullets and 3 ducklings.

My 9 year old daughter and I are having fun with them all. Even Dad seems to like them.

Midnight the cochin is a wonderful bird. Rusty is your average rooster I suppose.

I'm just getting back into chickens after a year or so break. I mentioned that I missed having them and got 24 RIR chicks as a birthday present. I am waiting on some Auracana, Polish and Cookoo Marans eggs to try my hand at incubating some.

My girls (and rooster) have faired very well is this nasty heat this weekend. (my daughter even brought our cochin in the house to "cool her down!" )

I'm south of Ithaca NY with:
3 Golden comets 15 wks
3 Silver Wyandottes 6 weeks
4 Cohchin mixes 2 weeks
3 Barred Rocks 6 weeks

AND 12 Buff orp. & 12 assorted barnyard mix eggs in the incubator.
