Thanks be to God, I've been enjoying success in the past 2 years showing & selling chickens at our county Fair. There are a lot of visitors to the Fair who come through the poultry tent looking to buy grown hens. Our fair recently finished, and I'm making plans for my chick order for the next year's Fair.

I like to get the breeds I like the best, so my natural enthusiasm for them helps their sale. I like heavy-breed brown-egg layers, and like them to be at point-of-lay for the Fair. That way they're fresh & young & pretty, and my buyers know they'll be getting all the eggs these birds have to give. And this way also they aren't gobbling up feed for too long at my place before they leave for their new homes.

I am going to place my order now for a summer delivery date. Do you think 6 months is a good age for showing & selling chickens?

I am also going to order some Runner Ducks and plan to keep half & show/sell the other half at the Fair. Do you think 5 months is a good age for showing & selling ducks? I know they seem to grow faster & look mature faster than the chickens.

Thank you for your imput!
