Best age to get goslings - 1 day or 7; does it matter?

I want to get 2 geese this spring. I have kept chickens and guineas, but geese will be new to me. I found a breeder locally who breeds the type I am interested it. I would like to purchase locally, however he will only release the goslings at 7 days old, compared to day-old from many of the mail order places.
These geese will pretty much be outside pets so I want to make sure we bond well - does it matter if I get them at 7 days vs 1? Thank you for your help

They probably do it to ensure that they're healthy. I'd rather buy them on day 7 than day 1. They'll still bond with you just the same. I got my ducks at 2 weeks and they're better bonded with me than a friend who hatched hers.

Make sure you spend a lot of quality time with them.

I'm in the exact same position although I will need to travel from Leeds to Grantham to get mine, which is almost a 2 hour drive away; I'd like them to bond with me from day one ( planning on taking some time off work for a week or two so that I can do this) but I do want them to be safe and healthy
