Hello:

I am in the market for a new coop. The ones that I have seen in TSC and the like look really cheaply constructed. My fear is that they will only last a year or two. Does anyone have any ideas where I can purchase one or even two that wont cost an arm and a leg? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Craigslist is a good place to look for things to make into a coop or even inexpensive used coops.

In reality the best bang for your buck is to build one. If you have no confidence in your carpentry skills or don't even own a circular saw then perhaps a neighbor will build it for little cash and your materials. It's really not an extensive project and can be done in a weekend.

This is a good design and easily modified to suit out needs. The nesting box on these should be lower and you only need two nests not three. Ventilation on this design is good and that's usually where coops lack.

Thanks for the post. The plans are really good ones also. I forgot about Craigslist. I'll start there. Thanks, again!
