This is a very good idea. I may try this.

Heehee! I actually scoop/shake the droppings into a composting container. I don't want any solid waste going into my washer. I add a very small amount of bleach to the towels (thus the choice of white) and wash/dry on hot. It works really well, and everything stays clean (laundry room included)!I'm just trying to visualize washing all those poopy towels. Do you have a method to reduce how much poop gets run through the washer? I kinda like the idea of towels for the little birds and in the nesting box but need to get past the "picture is worth a thousand words" thing.
Gonna try that next go-round (I can't even believe I'm considering another round so soon) haha.Heehee! I actually scoop/shake the droppings into a composting container. *also, I keep the "chicken towels" in a separate stack in the linen closet. All of their white ones are in one. All of the colored ones to match the bathrooms are in another.)
I use puppy pee pads or shavings in the brooder. I buy packs of puppy pads at Dollar Tree. $1 for a 4 pack. Change daily. After they get bigger I switch to shavings and elevate the water and food. Works great.
