Best bedding for run

What does everyone think the best bedding or the run is?

For chickens, I just use dirt for the run.

You don't need bedding in the run, really.

I have (not) deep (enough) litter (mostly), rapidly becoming dirt in the original run. It was clay-y sands, or sandy-clays, so "dirt" is an improvement. The new run is still green. That, too, is rapidly changing.

I like pine straw because it is free for the raking on my property and dries out rapidly on top after even the heaviest rain.

Coarse wood chips, the kind you get from a tree-trimming service, are often considered the gold standard for eliminating odor.

There isn't one universal "best" choice, you need to take into account your climate, drainage, specific run set up (roofed, unroofed), maintenance routine, budget and availability of materials.
