Best breed for eating flies and bugs?

Apparently my ducks are broken. They won't eat anything that isn't duck food, including scraps I put in their feed buckets. I have runner ducks

leave them a few hours without duck food and you will see them forage. runners don't like greens as much as muscovies but if there is a bit of mud they will spend all day digging.

I left them two days without food. They wouldn't touch any greens, black soldier flies, meal worms, quartered grapes, zucchini, peas, corn, or cucumbers. Though they do share a fence with the goats and will steal food from their bowls if it is in reach. And cat food. I swear, they're bizarre birds. I love them though, my favorite birds we've kept. I'd love to get some show quality ones.

Ducks love cat food it's fine for them. I've never heard of a duck eating veggies? Geese like veggies, but ducks?

my muscovies don't even look at any food if there are veggies around. my indian runners eat some (very little) veggies than run back to mud and keep digging.

Do you need to wing-clip muscovies by the way? Are they still able/fond of sittig high up?

For me that would make an choice also more easy. If they can fly in a tree they could avoid some threads runners/pekins might not, you might have.

I clip their wings. I don't like it but they might fly away. I lost 1.
