Hi everyone!
I have so many questions because this is the time that I've been lots of research. One of my biggest question is what is the best breed of chickens. We are planning to get ones that lay more eggs but you can also list breeds more for pets as well.
As always thanks for all the help and support!

Hello There,

Hm... You asked a very good question.
It is quite tricky too!

A breed that could be sweet...
Could have a mean chicken.

So not all the good ones are all good.

I would suggest the following breeds:

1.) New Hampshire Red's,
2.) Buff Orpington's,
3.) Buff Brahma's,
4.) Delawares.

There are truly a LOT of choices.
I hope you find a good one!

Many times the best laying hens are the least friendly chickens. The White Leghorn is the best laying breed, and will generally lay more than 300 eggs a year if fed properly.

The Brown Leghorn will lay almost as well.

One of the friendliest breeds is the Cochin. They come in a variety of colors, have feathered feet, and are supposed to be good winter layers.

Plymouth Barred Rock

The Barred Plymouth Rock is a very good breed for brown eggs. Rhode Island Red is also an excellent breed for brown eggs, as well as the production reds that are basically Rhode Island Reds that are bred for production and may not meet breed standards.

Those are all good breeds for brown eggs. Brahmas are supposed to be good winter layers.
