best breeds for eating?

I'm new to raising chickens I currently have Red Sex-Link cockerels and Leghorns for eggs, and I am looking into raising some meat birds. I have looked in many places to find info on breeds that do well in heat (it gets triple digit here in summer and very humid).

Try asking in the Louisiana thread, for breeders with established flocks in your area. Then you would be working with stock that's already acclimated to your zone.

Hey New2Farming, Glad to have you. Yes, I just ordered eggs to raise OE Basque chickens. They are from Spain and are used to the very high heat of La. I'm out of Shreveport. I do have Golden Comets and white rocks and they are in a shady area at least most of the day. So far they have done well. Do some research on google for best chickens for hot weather. Good luck
