Best chickens for Eggs?

It might be easier to pick out 4-5 different hen breeds that lay well.

I just realized that no one has answered your predator question. The squirrels won't be a problem (though one woman says they eat her eggs....it is under a thread about "squarls" I believe) but the racoons will definitely kill them. As long as they are locked up secure at night they should be alright.

U want 4-5 layers for Connecticut weather. Rose comb breeds will lay better in colder weather. Wyandotte, Dominique, and the Rose Comb Brown Leghorn, just to name a few.
