What works better..... a light color or a dark color?

Any experience with either?

Someone has a red one they want to sell me, but not sure that's a good idea.

I have a window blind installer next to me at work. I will pull defective fabric coverings out of the dumpster when they do a big purge. It's like a Textilene solar screen product. I like the light grey ones. I sew loops on and then tension it with shock cord. They don't absorb the sun and last for years. And they're free.

I was wondering if the red color would effect the chickens behavior.

They like to peck at little red things, like a bloody pin feather - which can be disastrous,
but maybe doesn't apply to large things- like huge shade cloth.

Or maybe they'll charge it like a bull goes after the red cape...lol

Color might not matter a whit as far as the quality of shade provided for chickens....but I don't think I want a giant red thing shedding a pinkish light in my backyard.
