best coop design for HOT summers?

We live in central California and it often gets above 110 in the summer. It freezes in winter, but not much below that. there is some shade, but would need to add some too. We have 4 hens and 2 bantams (not sure the sex yet)

You could make a three sided coup (three sides walled with one side wired) Orient it so the walled sides block the prevailing winter wind. Or you could make one with lots of ventilation at the top. This is mine here in Texas

I have a similar climate (can freeze in winter, super hot in summer). I used the Garden Coop plans for my coop. I tweaked the plans a bit-- reversed and extended the roof to provide more shade (used tin and insulated the roof to provide some heat protection), and made the interior coop door removable for the summer. In the summer, I add a shade cloth "patio" to prevent the coop/run from getting direct sun at all. On 110 degree days, it was 85-90 in the run.
