Update: she got back to me really quickly with a full refund and since apology.

At least it ended in a "good" way.

Since she did the best she could to make it right, I would accept her refund and apology and let it go at that. If she has a lot of birds, well, she's human too, and may have just missed the leg mites. An honest mistake.
