Plymouth Rock would probably be the best dual purpose bird. They lay well and grow fast if you want to use them for meat. They are pretty friendly to if you want a pet.
Brahmas in terms of meat are big, but they take a long time to mature enough for processing. And are not the greatest in egg production. Good thing I don't care much for eggs and would never kill any of my babies for meat.What about the Brahma?

Very friendly! And mine have grown to a decent size. About a foot and maybe a half tall and pretty heavy. But mine are hatchery stock, so breeder stock might get bigger.Are they pretty friendly, and how big have yours gotten?
