Best Duck hut bedding?

I currently put straw down for my ducks in their hut that I change weekly. I use straw because it is inexpensive and easy to dispose of (I throw it in my composter, lay it down around my garden or just pile it up in the back acres ) however I worry that it may not be the most healthy option for them. What do you put down for your ducks?

Pine shavings. I think they absorb better. In the winter I put straw or hay on top of the shavings so they can snuggle in it.

I use pine shaving and deep. Easy to scoop wet poop up fluff and add as needed

Any issues with ammonia build up or respiratory problems?
