A restaurant that I sell fresh eggs and broilers to asked me if I would consider raising either partridge or pheasant for them? I have never messed with anything like that and wonder which would be easier. I have chickens and turkeys in tractors. Would a tractor be suffient for either? Which of the two would be better eating for the investment?

tractors will likely be insufficient for either. Gamebirds are a lil more rowdy and space requirements are vitally important for them. crowded areas lead to a quick loss from pecking--- they can be quite ugly to each other and wicked quick about inflicting fatal injuries from pecking.

Provided housing space requirements are met adequately you would see better results (IMO) from chukar partridge. They normally have better hatch rates, brood easier, and grow 3-4x's faster than pheasants.

Few years ago I raised 6 jumbo ringnecks in 4x8 tractor to about 5 or 6 months then I butchered them. There was no problems.

Then I found out that I like better guinea hen meat better than pheasant, the problem is my wife will not let me keep guineas due to their screeching noise.

Never tried chukars, that will be my next bet and try.

Mr.Bojangles :

I think I am going to try pheasants & chukar together in my 12X16 tractor this spring. Maybe a dozen of each?

That should be fun...
